Drug uses

This medication is included into a group of phosphodiesterase inhibitors. The drug is used to treat impotence or erectile dysfunction. Cialis, combined with sexual stimulation, helps the blood flow into the penis and relaxes muscles in order to have an erection. The medication is for use in men only. The medication may also be used for other purposes.

What should I know about Cialis?

You should be aware that some medications may interact with Cialis. That’s why do not take Cialis together with nitroglycerin, other nitrates such as isosorbide, nitroprusside, or recreational drugs (poppers) containing amyl or butyl nitrate. If you are using alpha-blocker medications, including alfuzosin, doxazosin, prazosin, terazosin, you are not allowed to take Cialis.

In case you are taking macrolide antibiotics (clarithromycin, erythromycin), antifungal medicines(itraconazole or ketoconazole), medicine for high blood pressure; HIV protease inhibitors, including ritonavir or indinavir or other drugs for erectile dysfunction, additional monitoring of your dose is recommended.

You shouldn’t take any drug without the approval of you doctor. You should inform your doctor if you have heart troubles, blood cell problems such as sickle cell anemia, leukemia, or myeloma; kidney problems; uncontrolled high blood pressure; stomach problems; eye diseases; history of painful or prolonged erection; allergy to any drugs.

You are also not allowed to take Cialis if you have a history of heart attack, chest pain, stroke, low blood pressure, severe liver problems, and quinsy.

How taken

Take Cialis according to the prescription of your doctor. The medication should be taken orally before sexual activity. Do not take the medication in larger doses or for longer period than you were advised.

You are not allowed to take the drug more than 1 pill a day.

If you have troubles with your stomach, you can take Cialis with food. Store the drug at room temperature away from heat and moisture.

Warnings/ Precautions

You shouldn’t take Cialis if you are allergic to any ingredient in this medication. You are not recommended to drive or operate machinery before you know the reaction of your organism on this drug. You should be aware of this, as Cialis can cause dizziness or vision changes. Using this medicine together with other medications or alcohol may lessen your ability to drive or cause unwanted side effects such as headache, dizziness or lightheadedness.

Caution is advised if you have problems with your heart. If you experience chest pain, fainting, nausea or severe dizziness, while having sex, tell the doctor at once.

As elderly people are generally more sensitive to the side effects of this medicine, they should be especially careful while using the medication.

Cialis side effects

While using Cialis some side effects may occur. Headache, diarrhea, sore throat, stuffy nose; warmth or redness in your face, neck, or chest; upset stomach, back pain, muscle pain are among less serious side effects.

You should inform your doctor immediately if you have chest pain or heavy feeling, pain spreading to the arm or shoulder, nausea, sweating, general ill feeling; sudden vision loss; irregular heartbeat; seizure; ringing in your ears; feeling light-headed, fainting; swelling in your hands, ankles, or feet; or a prolonged erection (lasts more than 4 hours).

If you have such signs of an allergic reaction as hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat call an emergency at once.

Some other side effects may also occur.

Overdose

If you have such symptoms of overdose as abnormal vision, back pain and muscle pain, contact your local poison control center or emergency room at once.

Additional information

If your symptoms get worse, inform your doctor.

The medication shouldn’t be used to treat other health conditions.

Store the medicine out of reach of children and pets.

Drug interactions

Taking the medicine together with other medications may cause unwanted side effects or prevent the medication from doing the job. Inform your doctor of all the medications, you take, including over-the-counter drugs.
